John Deere Repair Manual 3038e Front Axle
Deere & Company, the firm founded by John Deere, began to expand its range of equipment to. The standard-front GP, or John Deere Standard, built from March 1928 to February. It was a modified GP tractor with adjustable rear axle track (distance between. These would be the 31/25 hp 3032E and 37/30 hp 3038E.
I have a 4120 with a leaking seal in the front axle. It is between where the gear housing connects to the knuckle.
I’ve bought the parts from the dealer, but I’m wondering if anyone here has ever replaced one. Preferably, if someone with a service manual could tell me how they say to do it. I know it will be taking everything off in order, and then putting it all back on. My plan is to remove the whole gear housing and knuckle from the axle, so I can flip it over.
I’m curious if there is a better way, though. I put a breaker bar with a 4’ cheater pipe on the bolts holding the housing to the axle, and it wouldn’t budge. It felt like I would most likely snap it at the socket before the bolt let loose. The seal that needs to be replaced is number 10 in the attachment. The bolts labeled 1 are what I cannot get loose. If someone has experience with it, or knows a better way, please let me know.
Being able to do the work is no problem. I can't imagine my local dealer even pulling anything into the shop for $200. Parts alone were a little shy of $100.
The tractor rarely requires any work other than basic maintenance. Anything that it has needed prior to now, I haven't needed a manual for. The funds are not available at this time for one.
3020 John Deere Repair Manual
I'm certain this will be the best way to get it off, just wanted to check and see if anyone had any experience with it first. Thanks I completely understand wanting to do the repair yourself. If my tractor had to go to the dealer here I wouldn't see it again for an easy month. I don't have a dripping leak yet but my tractor is starting to build moister around the exact same area. It would be awesome if you would take a few pics of the process and post them, I suspect I will be doing the same repair sooner than later on my 3520.
